The Abington project was a development of individual Classical / Georgian houses. Each of the houses are unique, some more modern than others. Every house has a commanding site and the
grounds have an abundance of mature trees and vegetation.
From the outset our clients wanted the balance and best of both a classical and modern building approach and styles. To get the timeless external feel to a home and yet have the flexibility, flow and openness of a modern home. The house is designed around two main drivers, 1. The site to ensure that we position it correctly within the site for privacy, to maximise the sun and have strong connections to the garden. 2. The people who will make it their home. This means that it is designed to be elegant, functional, fun, flexible and offer a real sense of a family home.
On the functional side, our clients arrive at the car port which leads to the boot room, laundry and pantry for off loading coats / bags/ shopping etc. This leads to the kitchen and dining space which leads out to the covered terrace area. The kitchen and dining area is open plan and has a vaulted ceiling through which we are able to pull in the southern sun all day. The lounge is acoustically separated with pocket doors. This lounge has a feature double sided fireplace. The entrance hall features a contemporary stairs housed within a double height space. As guests enter the hall they see right through the house to the landscaped garden. We move further down the house to the family room which is purposely separated from the rest of the house to create public and private spaces.
The ground floor also contains a playroom, an office, storage and a feature window seat.
The first floor contains 5 bedrooms all with En-suite bathrooms. The Master Bedroom Suite includes a large Walk-in-Wardrobe and En-suite.
